System Upgrade to V4.4 for Wheels 64
V4.2 and Wheels 128 V4.2
This upgrade consists of replacing the Dashboard and the Toolbox and upgrading your Wheels kernal and the MakeSysDisk utility. After downloading these files and getting them onto Commodore disks, boot up Wheels and run Convert 2.5 to convert them into usable GEOS type files. Next, load up GeoWrite and view the documentation files for instructions on how to perform the upgrade.
For your convenience, you may also view the documentation online.
Click here to view the main system upgrade instructions.
Click here to view the Dashboard upgrade instructions.
Note: For those upgrading both Wheels 64 and Wheels 128, the UPDATDOC.CVT and DBNOTES.CVT files are the same for both systems. You only need to download one copy of each.
Wheels 64 users, download these files:
UPDATDOC.CVT Main system upgrade docs in GeoWrite format.
UPDAT64.CVT Main system upgrade application.
TBOX64.CVT The latest Toolbox 64.
DBNOTES.CVT Dashboard upgrade docs in GeoWrite format.
DASH64.CVT The latest Dashboard 64.
Wheels 128 users, download these files:
UPDATDOC.CVT Main system upgrade docs in GeoWrite format.
UPDAT128.CVT Main system upgrade application.
TBOX128.CVT The latest Toolbox 64.
DBNOTES.CVT Dashboard upgrade docs in GeoWrite format.
DASH128.CVT The latest Dashboard 64.
SYS1PATCH for Wheels 64 V4.2 and Wheels 128 V4.2
This is a new patch program that will fix a problem that's been reported by several Wheels users in Europe and Australia. The problem doesn't seem to affect everyone and for some that it does affect, it may not happen all the time. What happens is the system clock will run about 16 percent too slow. All Wheels V4.2 users in PAL countries should use this patch. And even though users in North America or any other location using the NTSC video system are not affected, they should also apply this patch since the same faulty routine exists and this will update it.
Patching is quick and easy with dialogue boxes to guide you along.
Download SYS1PATCH now. This .wr3 archive includes documentation in a geoWrite file.
The original GEOS 64 Calculator desk accessory worked fine until the TurboMaster accelerator and the SuperCPU 64 came along. The calculator switches BASIC in and out during its operation, but it does it in a way that these accelerators don't like. It's actually a non-standard way of switching in and out of BASIC. This version of the calculator is fixed so that BASIC is accessed in a more proper way and the accelerators no longer lock up or crash.
This version will still work even if you don't have an
accelerator. It's for GEOS 64 or Wheels 64 only. It should also work OK
using MegaPatch 3.
Note: The GEOS 128 Calculator doesn't have this problem.
Download the Calculator now. This is a .cvt file and will require Convert 2.5 in order to convert back into a GEOS formatted file.
Finder is an application that can help you locate files on your system. Surely you've had times when you just couldn't remember which partition a particular file was located on. Or maybe you wanted to search your entire hard drive for all the data files that you created since last month. Finder has several adjustments you can make to locate particular files. This is a useful utility to have on your system.
Finder can be found on other sites also, so if you've already downloaded it, and it's V1.0, you'll want this new version. One bug was found and fixed in this new Finder V1.1. The bug was related to using the search function that allows you to find files that were created prior to a certain date and time.
Finder runs in both Wheels 64 and Wheels 128 (40 and 80 columns)
Download Finder now. This .wr3 archive includes documentation in a geoWrite file.
Programmers... all the source code that was used to create Finder is now available for free downloading. You can study the code provided and modify it or expand on it to add more features to Finder, or you can use it as examples for your own programming ideas. Make use of this code any way you want. You'll learn how to get your own Wheels applications up and running by studying some of this code.
All the source code files needed to recreate Finder are included in this archive. Be sure to read the "SourceCodeNotes" file for instructions on how to assemble and link these files. Also included are the Wheels symbol and equate files, plus a geosMac (macros) file, and the font that is used throughout the source code. The only other item you need is Concept, the assembler/linker package.
Download Finder source code now. This .wr3 archive requires Wraptor V3.
New mouse drivers for SuperCPU
users
(for Wheels 64)
Six of the mouse drivers that were included with your original Wheels disk had a bug or two. With the Smart4 drivers, if you pressed the 1mhz button and accidentally rolled your finger off onto one of the other buttons before lifting off the 1mhz button, you could lock your machine into 1mhz mode.
These new Smart4 drivers fix this problem. They watch the buttons a little closer to see if you are indeed accidentally hitting the next button before releasing the 1mhz button.
There are also two new drivers for the 1351 in 64 mode. These two drivers as well as the two 64 mode Smart4 drivers had a problem that could affect the TurboMaster users.
The drivers affected are the following:
Smart4
Smart4R
128Smart4
128Smart4R
C1351S
C1351SR
All the other drivers supplied with Wheels do not need
to be replaced.
To find out if you need to replace your mouse driver,
check the version number. Click on the icon for your driver and then select
"info" from the file menu in the Dashboard. The version number will be
listed on the Permanent Name line. If your driver is V4.1 or lower, you
need to replace it. The new drivers included here are V4.2.
Download mouse drivers
now. All 6 mouse drivers are included in this one .wr3 archived file. You'll
need Wraptor V3 to dearchive this file.
A note to help you with Wraptored files... after downloading a file and moving it to a Commodore disk for unwrapping, be sure that the file is a PRG type file and the filename ends with .wr3 in lowercase PETASCII characters. If not, Wraptor won't list it in the file requestor.
Wraptor is a good program to use for GEOS type files because it can convert and archive in one operation and it works with multiple files. Wraptor runs outside of GEOS/Wheels, yet it can work with GEOS type files.
Download Wraptor V3 for .wr3 files right now. This file is called wraptor3.exe. After you download it, just rename it to Wraptor3 without the .exe extension.
Download Wraptor V1
for .wra files (this includes the documentation). This file is called wraptor.sda.
After you download it, load and run it in 64 mode to self dissolve the
files. The main thing you need here is the documentation in order to understand
how Wraptor V3 works.
